The sad thing about Waco is that it only snows about once every few years! I love snow and living in Waco sucks because there is no snow ever. But that doesn’t stop us from celebrating the holidays like we’re at the north pole!!! We Wacoan’s love Christmas. Maybe it’s our lack of snow that makes us want it so bad. So we celebrate winter every year with Waco Wonderland.
Thus was born Waco Wonderland. Waco Wonderland is a wishful thinking event where we create a winter wonderland in downtown Waco. It even has fake snow and either a snow hill or fake ice skating, depending on what year it is. I’ve gone several times. I remember one year they had ice skating and it was actually freezing cold out. I brought my nieces and one of them chose to sit in the car because she was too cold!! Can you imagine that! In Waco Texas? Yes, it happens from time to time. It seems like its getting warmer each year though…global warming anyone? But I digress.
Waco Wonderland Christmas Parade
The last time I went to Waco Wonderland, it was not cold at all. It was mild outside. It was kind of disappointing. Its hard to pretend like you are in a winter wonderland when it is borderline hot outside. 🙁 But we still had fun! Maybe this year it will be colder.
Anywho….. Here are some cool pictures I took at the Waco Wonderland parade in December 2017. I didn’t go in 2018 (shame on me), but I will be going in 2019, so be on the look out for more details! The Waco Wonderland parade takes place downtown each year. It is free to the public. The actual carnival is located at Heritage Square at 300 Austin Avenue. The do give out candy, but they are not allowed to throw the candy. They have to hand it to you. You can learn more about Waco Wonderland here.
One thing that is awesome about Waco Texas is the sky. I didn’t even photoshop the photo above. Look at the sky. It looks so beautiful and amazing. The sunsets in Waco are to die for!
They had some cool old timey cars at the parade that were all decked out for Christmas. I want one! This one was a Chevy Malibu. Pretty slick.
And the front of the Chevy Malibu looks even cooler.
They had a cool old truck with the engine showing, but I didn’t get a good picture of it because I was fixated on the weenie dog dressed up for Christmas and waving at me.
And you can’t go wrong with a mustang convertible in a parade.
Here is Frosty the snowman, some Shopkins, the girl dog from Paw Patrol who I forgot her name, and Elsa. I liked the costumes, but every time I took a photo they turned around…
Here are the shopkins! You can see their faces this time. And Santa Clause’s butt. Is it just me or does Santa’s legs look really long?
Well that is all of the photos I have of the Waco Wonderland Parade. Hopefully next year I will be able to post some more for you guys. Have you been to Waco Wonderland? What did you think? Leave a note in the comments below!
